The Osprey Ventures deal flow generation program and the General Partner's extensive referral networks are key to the success of the Partnership and are competitive advantages in its market.
The elements of this program include:

Speaking Engagements
The Managing Director of the General Partner has been speaker, panelist, or advisor at multiple industry conferences or forums over the past few years.

Event Organization
The Managing Director of the General Partner has been instrumental in organizing and advising technology investor conferences such as The Supercom trade show and The International Software Partnering Conference.

Mailings
The mailing program entails researching and identifying specific software, semiconductor, and communication niches, and generating broad mailings and email of the Fund's brochures and tombstone pieces to thousands of investment prospects and referral sources annually.

Direct Prospecting
The Fund currently originates a significant portion of its investment opportunities internally, by identifying and researching industries and actively pursuing leading private companies on a targeted basis.

Trade Shows
The Managing Director of the General Partner has attended well over 35 trade shows, conferences, and forums in the last 3 years, primarily for the purpose of proactive deal flow generation, competitive research, and in some cases targeting a particular industry segment.

Proprietary Databases
The General Partner maintains a detailed database of the most promising business plans and executive summaries received by the Fund. Although these companies did not merit an investment when initially reviewed, the companies are periodically recontacted and their progress evaluated.

A separate, but similar, database tracks private companies within the Fund's target technology subniches from which the Fund has not yet received a business plan. These databases currently contain approximately 8,000 private technology companies where the General Partner has had recent contact.

PR Campaign
The Managing Director of the General Partner has been the author of, or featured in, several articles in newspapers and business journals, with many other mentions in various publications.

Prior Investment
The Managing Director of the General Partner has had over 50 clients and several hundred company contacts from his successful investment banking career.

This large, rich group of contacts includes successful executives, board members, industry consultants, and prior portfolio company management, and represents one of Osprey's most valuable assets.
